Dana Liebelson is a writer and journalist from Montana based in Austin, Texas.

Journalism

I am a long-form journalist who tells national stories. I report on Texas politics and civil rights, cultural shifts in the American West where the past informs the present, and the people and environments impacted by policy.

My journalism has appeared in Texas Monthly, The LA Times, The New York Times Sunday Review, The New Republic, The Guardian, POLITICO Magazine, The Atlantic online, and other places.

I previously worked as a staff reporter for Mother Jones and HuffPost, where my investigative reporting, along with my colleagues, was twice a finalist for the Livingston Awards, and earned a Writers Guild Award for digital news.

Fiction

My fiction has appeared in Ploughshares, Guernica, Passages North, and CutBank Literary Magazine. I completed my M.F.A. at the University of Wyoming and attended the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference and Tin House Summer Workshop. I am at work on a novel.
